A transformational new space for the Sixth Form  

St John’s is delighted to announce plans for a new Sixth Form area. With the School thriving and approaching its 175th anniversary, it feels both timely and appropriate to take another ambitious next step in the School’s estates plan. 

This exciting development will transform part of the School’s historic estate into an inspiring, future-focused and more adult environment – giving our oldest pupils a space that supports their growing independence and prepares them for life beyond school. 

Our approach of intelligently repurposing existing buildings ensures the enhancements are educationally ambitious, financially responsible and focused firmly on improving pupil experience. 

The project will be delivered in two phases: 

Phase 1, aiming for completion January 2027: A vibrant Sixth Form cafe and study (for approximately 150 pupils), a flexible space that can be adapted to support the delivery of our life skills programme, including seminars and guest speakers. 

Phase 2, aiming for completion September 2027: A dedicated quiet study zone, offices for the Sixth Form Team, a modern careers and futures hub and an attractive welcoming outdoor courtyard for social time and informal dining.
