The sense of community at St John’s is something of which we are exceptionally proud. We're an open, welcoming school which encourages its pupils to look beyond their immediate surroundings to be aware of their role in – and their ability to contribute to – the wider community. Our current parents play an active and important role in school life, through the St John’s Parent Association (SJPA) and through their dedication, enthusiasm and support for a huge variety of school events. From supporting on the sidelines at sports fixtures, to cheering on the latest performing arts productions, we love welcoming parents into school. It says a lot about the deep-rooted sense of community that many parents maintain links with St John’s even after their children have left the School. Our alumni - the OJs - is an active and enthusiastic group which offers opportunities for networking, careers advice, friendship and a host of enjoyable activities. We love hearing from, and meeting up with, our former pupils and greatly value the lifelong connections so many of them maintain with St John's.
We're fortunate to have extensive links with local groups, other schools and organisations. We appreciate the opportunities we can offer to others and the benefits that those relationships bring to the richness of St John’s life. From Duke of Edinburgh's Award volunteering and helping in local schools, to inviting primary aged pupils to St John's for lessons or sports training, and organising our annual Community Holiday, we are proud of the variety of ways in which our pupils contribute to society.
